Principal Investigator
Dr. Luis De La Cruz attended medical school in Lima, Peru and attended Southern Illinois University for his residency in Internal Medicine. He continued with a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Miami – Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL and his Sleep Medicine Fellowship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL.
He holds board certifications in Critical Care, Pulmonary Diseases, Internal Medicine and Sleep Medicine. He is the Medical Director of the Sleep Services at the Cherokee Medical Center in Gaffney, SC, associated with Spartanburg Regional Health System. He is also the director of the Sleep Division at Upstate Lung and Critical Care. His specialized skills are used in Pulmonary and Internal Medicine studies at VitaLink. Dr. De La Cruz primarily works out of our Gaffney, Greenville and Spartanburg research facilities.
Dr. Delacruz had been working in the Upstate area since 2006, practicing medicine for Upstate Lung & Critical Care as well as being involved in the care of patients in the intensive care unit of Spartanburg Medical Center. He has also been involved in pharmaceutical research protocols since he moved to the Upstate area.
